The Leeuwin Naturaliste Junior soccer cup finals season windup was on last week at the newly revamped Dunsborough playing fields and was the culmination of a fantastic season of soccer played by (total number in association) kids from ages 5-18 years old.

The weather turned on the sun for the event and the good weather made for some impressive games, showcasing the depth of talent within the region.

The first game to be played was the under 15’s and it set the pace for the rest of the day.

It was Margaret River Striker’s v Mackillop Storm .

The strikers had many chances at the first half but failed to capitalize and Storm over run them to the tune of 5-2, the score line did not reflect the effort Margaret River put in through the season, as this was the first game this year they have lost.

Next was the under 13’s champions, the Capel Wolves v Busselton Sharks, a very close game that was tied for most of the game, Spectators relished the tussle with a lot of cheering and encouragement from the sidelines.

The Youth league girls was up with the Margaret river Breakers v Vasse Vultures, another close game that could have gone either way but the score at the end of game went to the MR Breakers, all the girls played with passion and did their clubs and code proud.

The Premier under 13’s was just that - a premier game, fast and furious but in the end the experience of the Port Geographe Seasiders overcome the Vasse rovers 3-1.

The last game of the day was the Youth League boys, a home crowd pleaser between the Dunsborough Chargers and Vasse United.

Winger Tim Nigg started the scoring in the 15th minute and a quick response from Vasse through Dylan McGregor at 21 minutes, Vasse scored again 9 minutes later and Tim Nigg scored again at the next half.

James Black then started up with some impressive runs and scored 2 more  goals for Dunsborough leaving the final score 4-2.

It lived up to its main event billing, with Dunsborough taking it up to the Vasse team who were unbeaten all season.

The day ended with the LNJSA season presentations
