Cornerstone Titans V Margaret River Raiders
Well here it was, the last game of the season. Some say it goes too long but all of a sudden it’s over. Raiders travelled to Busselton to play Cornerstone it what would be a tight affair.
No Taj Thomas meant for a bit of a team shuffle. Liam Matto took charge between the sticks in the first half ,doing a great job in the process.
The Raiders kept the pressure on Cornerstone with solid battles in the midfield from Tom Leighton, Jykia River & Alice Atkinson along with Abby Slater continually making space on the right.
The Raiders were finding it hard to break down the Cornestone defence .Jasper Siesun made numerous runs down the left sending in some solid crosses using Aisha Atkinson well in the forward line .
Raiders were unlucky not to go ahead with a long range effort from Xavier Nikulinsky just going over.
Pascoe Paice put in another solid performance and can be very proud of his growing confidence throughout the year and as usual Raiders had a 100 percent display from Alistar White in the centre half position.
Second half Cornerstone went ahead and it could have been more without a couple of great reflex saves from another replacement Raiders keeper Donnie Longmore. To the Raiders credit they fought till the end but just couldn’t find their way through to score an equaliser.
Both teams showed what the South West has to offer in the future of sporting talent. Well done .
I’d like to say thankyou to all the Raiders players ,it has been a pleasure to coach you.
